I’m a passionate Financial Economist working to better understand how macro trends influence capital markets and trade dynamics around the world. My fields of expertise include Macroeconomic & Thematic Research, Forecasting & Modelling, Financial Analysis and Data Visualisation. I thoroughly enjoys generating new ideas and devising feasible solutions to broadly relevant problems. I’m also an avid fan of sports, winetasting, politics and travel in my spare time.

Responsibilities include:

  • Rotated between the Economic Research and Financial Markets Departments at the Bank. Built structural and econometric forecast models for key economic indicators (Inflation, GDP, Credit Extension, FX Reserves, Financial Stability Indices).
  • Conducted periodic presentations on price & commodity market trends, Credit Extension and FX downside risks at Monetary Policy Meetings.
  • Compiled credit risk research on external counterparts (US, EU, Chinese and Japanese Banks), as well as financial analysis (Performance, Risk, Strategy and Compliance) on all tranches/assets within the Bank’s foreign reserves portfolio.
  • Assisted with improving interest income on the foreign reserves portfolio by 6% through re-strategizing asset exposure in emerging markets.

  • Carried out sector research to source prospective M&A deals for the Fund (Renewable energy, Infrastructure, ICT).
  • Performed financial valuation analysis through the use of discounted cash flow, trading comparables and leveraged buyout methodologies.
  • Presented the investment pipeline to Development Finance Institutions (AfDB, Development Banks of Namibia and South Africa) as part of capital raising efforts, which increased the Fund’s size by 400% to USD 400m
  • Compiled all of the Fund’s regulatory submissions to respective authorities.
